The 8.9 earthquake that hit Japan is one of the portents of the coming of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh)

The Hour [Last Day] will not be established until ... earthquakes will be very frequent. (Sahih Bukhari)

 A 10 METER HIGH TSUNAMI OCCURED FOLLOWING THE EARTHQUAKE

The  8.9 earthquake that hit Japan occured four  kilometers underneath the ground.   Dozens of cities on the two thousand and one hundred kilometer long coast line were affected by this earthquake. It is believed that more than   a thousand people died as a result of the earthquake and the giant waves of the following tsunami .

There will be earthquakes in my community. Ten thousand, twenty thousand, thirty thousand people will die... (Ibn ‘Asakir, Gelecegin Tarihi 1 (History of the Future 1), Orhan Baytan, Mevsim Publishings, p. 81)

As well as houses being swallowed by the several meters high waves penetrating ten kilometers inside the coast, there  were  ships that drifted to the fields, tankers, even planes and cars were completely crushed .

It is estimated that at least  1.4 million houses are engulfed under water in the country.

The signs of the Last Day will follow one another. Like beads strung out one behind the other. (Ahmad Diya ad-Din al-Kamushkhanawi, Ramuz al-Ahadith, 277/6; Al Jami As Sagir, 3/167)

It is a portent of the emergence of Hazrat Mahdi (pbuh) that  there has been such an increase in the frequency and strength  of earthquakes  occuring for the first time in the history of the world.

I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed satan.

When the earth is convulsed with its quaking and the earth then disgorges its charges and man asks, ‘What is wrong with it?’, on that Day it will impart all its news.  (Surat az-Zilzal, 1-4)
