BIVALVE
Marine crustaceans have maintained the same characteristics in the fossil record for hundreds of millions of years. One example is the double-shelled bivalve. The one shown here lived between 206 and 144 million years ago; it represents a challenge to the theory of evolution because it is the same as present-day bivalves.
